Rengo Response to Relief

Converge Worldwide and the Japan team has been partnering with the Japan Baptist Church Association (Rengo) for over 60 years. This network of churches did not report any damage or problems from the earthquake. But they are mobilized to help. They are praying, giving, and sending relief.

This was a letter sent by Pastor Hiro Yonai of the Kokubunji church in western Tokyo. I appreciate that you lift us and our country up with your love and compassion. Your support in Jesus is too deep and wide to draw. We are planning to trip to Sendai, Miyagi where has been suffered by the terrible earthquake and tsunami for the relief efforts. We are cooperated with CRASH and FHI [Food for the Harvest International] to serve those who are still under suffering of this disaster. Six people are leaving on Monday morning 21st March and 2 on Tuesday 22nd until 25th/26th by 3 vehicles. We will bring food, blankets, water, other relief supplies. And we may be asked to clean up the collapsed houses and churches. I sincerely ask you to pray for victims to be comforted, and for us to be good neighbors to them and our safety. PRAY FOR THESE WORKERS AND FOR THE MINISTRY THEY WILL HAVE THIS WEEK. I heard later today one of them is a new Rengo pastor Don Frazier from Gifu Prefecture who will be a part of this group.
