Japan Update for 3/24 Thu

Tokyo continues to inch toward normality. In our local grocery store there was rice, prepared foods, toilet paper, but no bottled water due to the rush for it due to the increase of radioactivity in Tokyo’s tap water. Except for infants the water is reportedly safe to drink. Today it was announced that Tokyo’s tap water is safe for infants to drink. Thank God for this development and for calm among the people in Tokyo. PRAY for the delivery of water to Tokyo and the health of all citizens.

Workers continue to struggle to restore the systems at the #1 Fukushima Power Plant. Now they have electric power to reactors at the plant. Continue to PRAY for Mr. Sato and others as they work at the plant. Today several workers were taken to the hospital. PRAY for the recovery of these workers. PRAY for the progress at the plant and the courage.

Today it was reported that at least 56 people have died in hospitals in the affected areas due to lack of water, electricity, and gasoline. Staff of the hospitals are overworked and it is unknown when relief will come. PRAY for medical facilities and their staff, for prompt supply of utilities and supplies. PRAY for patients in these hospitals.

Many churches in other areas of Japan are taking evacuate in. PRAY for these churches that they may adjust to these changes and provide adequate care to these evacuees.
