REPORT ON CHURCHES
I received a report from the Rengo that all of their churches, pastors, members, and members’ homes are fine. Of course the few churches in Iba1raki and Chiba need a bit of cleaning up from fallen items off shelves and a bit of broken glass.
News is still spotty about churches and denominations in the affected area. There are many pastors that people have been unable to reach. So far I have only heard of one church that sustained cracks from the earthquakes. I have not heard of any injuries or loss of life among the Christian community. Most areas are experiencing lack of food, water, and gas.
OUR AREA
Machida City experienced a magnitude 5 earthquake on Friday but remarkably hardly any damage. We heard early on that a grocery store sustained damage. Later we found out that it is the CostCo store in Machida where a parking ramp collapsed. Elaine and I were at that CostCo stocking up on Thursday driving up and down those same ramps. We had some fallen items but had just put earthquake braces on our dining room hutch earlier in the week. We only sustained a few fallen things. Our old microwave fell down to the floor but still works. John’s office had a lot of things fall down but no damage to anything.
