Christian Response to the Disaster
I have previous written about the collection of relief supplies and the shipping from the Nagoya area churches. There is also much help coming from the Kansai area.
One missionary from Kansai for over a week has been assessing damaged areas far to the north. He bought a truck has been coordinating shipping up to his area for establishing a base of operation. One missionary reported making it to Sendai pass long lines of cars trying to get gasoline and being allowed to travel on highways which only those with a special pass as they are relief vehicles. He will be at the Sendai Baptist Seminary as he said, “our home for the next week or two.” They have spent today unloading relief supplies, maybe some from the Samaritan Purse flight (see yesterday’s post). Then they will visit evacuation centers and determine distribution of relief supplies through local churches in the area. Jeff Chapman, a fellow Converge Worldwide missionary, will be taking a truck from the Kansai area on Tuesday. PRAY for all of these efforts that they may increase and be effective.
