Your April 2021 Update from John and Elaine.
Happy Easter. Jesus Lives and is Victorious.
The pandemic is not yet over but developments have allowed us to start recovering this Spring. Because of the decline of cases in our area, our vaccinations, and Spring weather we are cautiously planning minimal travel. This month John will have a road trip to Ohio (see below) and he anticipates being in Japan and Asia possibly in July and October. Continue to pray for divine protection and blessing.
BLESSING TO ASIA
Finally John gets to meet in person those on the Converge Asia Impact Team. Our team of six will be gathering in Ohio April 6-9. Please pray for this event that we may be encouraged, challenged, and energized. John will also be visiting ministry partners in the area: Anchor Church (Avon Lake), Old North (Canfield) and Evangel (Boardman). John will also be meeting with Brian Lusky Converge’s Japan Initiative Leader. John and fellow team member Steve Wilkinson will be preaching and teaching at Mentor Baptist Church on April 11th. Pray that everyone will have a God-sized vision for His Kingdom from these personal meetings and events.
BLESSING TO JAPAN
- Japan continues to struggle with Covid cases but plans to go ahead with the Olympics in July. This will be challenging for those preparing evangelistic outreach.
- This month there are several key online meetings that need your prayer. Some of the larger mission agencies in Japan will be meeting with a consultant to discuss church planting partnership at new levels. Another group will meet to discuss how to impact Fukushima Prefecture, the one most impacted by the tsunami and nuclear disaster.
- Since the 10 year memorial of the triple disaster in Japan there has been another disaster: a spike in Covid cases in the areas affected by the tsunami. Pray for God’s mercy on these people as the area recovers.
- John is working on a project outlining the challenges of the Japanese as an Unreached People Group (UPG). Pray for wisdom as he hopes to outline innovative strategies to impact the world’s second largest UPG.
ELAINE’S WORLD
Elaine would appreciate prayer as she will be even busier with John gone for over a week. She will be juggling mentoring, Bible studies, Japanese class, and taking care of grandchildren.
