Looking to finish the task of the Great Commission, mission experts have identified over 6,600 unreached people groups (UPG) in the world. UPGs are defined as any group less than 2% Christian. Practically they need outside help to complete the evangelization among their people. There are also unengaged unreached people groups (UUPG) with over 1,200 groups that have no known Christians and no missionaries working with them. Our mission focus must be on these peoples.
The second largest unreached people group in the world are the Japanese (see https://joshuaproject.net/unreached/1) This group in the 10/40 window are over 120 million people that are only 0.45% Christian. There are still 22 cities and over 1,800 towns in Japan that have no church. There is much to do. So pray for the Japan Congress on Evangelism this September 27-29 in Kobe Japan. Also the CPI Church Planting Next Steps seminar in Nov.
In late June, we attended our national mission conference Converge 2016 in Denver. At this meeting we were challenged to REACH across the street and around the world. On the last day individuals and churches adopted 30 unreached people groups that will have church planting teams starting right away. Converge is focusing on planting churches among the least reached peoples of the reached in the world. Thanks for your partnership with us.
If you want to partner more to reach the unreached Japanese let us know. We can use more missionaries, more funding, more prayer, and much more interest.
